The pomegranate that made the fruit famous — deep crimson arils, big sweet-tart flavor, and an ornamental tree that earns its keep all season.
'Wonderful' is the benchmark commercial pomegranate, the variety behind most of the juice and fresh fruit you find at market. It carries large, glossy red-skinned fruit packed with juicy ruby arils that balance rich sweetness against a bright, wine-like tartness. Beyond the harvest, it's a genuinely handsome plant: glossy green leaves, flushes of vivid orange-red trumpet flowers from spring into summer, and a naturally rounded, multi-stemmed habit that works as a specimen, a loose hedge, or a patio container tree.
Why growers choose the 'Wonderful' pomegranate
Signature flavor. The classic sweet-tart, full-bodied arils that set the standard for both fresh eating and juicing.
Self-fertile. A single tree sets fruit on its own, so you don't need a second variety to get a crop.
Heat and drought tough. Once established it thrives in hot, dry summers and tolerates a range of soils, including lean and slightly alkaline ground.
Ornamental all season. Showy orange-red blooms, glossy foliage, and large colorful fruit make it as decorative as it is productive.
Container-friendly. Adapts well to a large pot, so gardeners in colder zones can grow it on a patio and shelter it over winter.
Reaching 8–12 ft. tall and 6–8 ft. wide, it slots into a sunny corner of the yard, anchors a Mediterranean-style border, or lives happily in a big container on a warm patio — pruned smaller if you want to keep it tidy.
