Sandy Floors Small Business Alliance Membership Standards & Community Guidelines
Sandy Floors Small Business Alliance
We aren't building a list of small businesses. We're building a community of them.
The Sandy Floors Small Business Alliance brings together active small-business owners who are working to grow their own businesses while helping other independent businesses grow alongside them. Our culture is built around community over competition, meaningful participation, family-friendly business standards, strong customer care, and honest business practices.
What Proud Member Means
A Proud Member is an active participant in our small-business community. Membership is a community designation—not a certification, warranty, license, safety approval, or guarantee of a member's products, services, or business.
1. Active, Growing Businesses
Members should be genuinely operating, launching, building, improving, or growing an independent business. The Alliance is not intended to be a passive directory, backlink program, advertising listing, or badge collected and forgotten.
Growth is encouraged. A member does not stop belonging simply because the business becomes successful or larger. We want today's small businesses to become tomorrow's Alliance success stories.
2. Community Over Competition
Members agree to participate in the spirit of cooperation rather than treating every other business as a competitor. Businesses offering similar products or services are welcome. Healthy competition is normal; harassment, sabotage, deceptive review activity, intentional interference with another member's relationships, copying protected original work, or conduct intended to damage another member is not.
3. Give, Participate & Help Others Grow
Members are expected to make a reasonable effort to contribute to the community. Participation may include engaging with or sharing Alliance content, welcoming members, promoting the Alliance or fellow members, exchanging experience, answering questions, making introductions, sharing useful opportunities, collaborating, celebrating milestones, or helping another owner solve a problem.
There are no quotas for posts, shares, purchases, referrals, or endorsements. Members are never required to disclose trade secrets, purchase from another member, or endorse something they do not genuinely support. Participation should be authentic.
4. Share Opportunities
Members are encouraged to share legitimate markets, events, wholesale opportunities, grants, retail openings, media opportunities, collaborations, useful business resources, and introductions that may help fellow members grow.
5. Family-Friendly Businesses & Products
Members agree to maintain family-friendly stores, products, services, advertising, social content, and other public-facing business materials consistent with the Alliance community. Sandy Floors may decline or remove businesses or content involving unlawful goods, counterfeit or stolen goods, hate or extremist activity, sexually explicit material, deceptive or materially misleading claims, fraud, harassment, pyramid or recruitment-first schemes, or other content fundamentally inconsistent with a family-oriented small-business community.
6. Customer Care
Members agree to provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional customer service. Customer questions and legitimate concerns should be addressed within a reasonable time, and problems involving damaged orders, fulfillment, returns, or other service issues should not simply be ignored.
7. Shipping & Fulfillment
Members agree to process and ship orders promptly within the processing times communicated to customers. Because handmade, custom, food, and ready-to-ship businesses may have different fulfillment needs, the Alliance does not impose one universal shipping deadline. Members should communicate significant unexpected delays quickly and honestly.
8. Honest Listings & Quality Standards
Products and services should be accurately represented. Members should maintain reasonably current pricing, inventory, product descriptions, photographs, shipping information, ingredients, materials, warnings, disclosures, or other customer information applicable to their business. Products should substantially match what was represented to the customer.
9. Lawful & Responsible Business Practices
Each member remains responsible for its own products, services, claims, licensing, permits, taxes, insurance, intellectual property, labeling, safety, fulfillment, privacy practices, customer service, and legal compliance. Alliance membership does not mean Sandy Floors has independently inspected, certified, licensed, guaranteed, or approved every product or service.
10. Respect & Professional Conduct
Members should treat customers, other members, businesses, and the public respectfully. Harassment, discrimination, threats, fraud, abusive conduct, deliberate misinformation, fake reviews, spam, engagement manipulation, or dishonest promotional practices are inconsistent with membership.
11. Confidentiality & Trust Between Members
Members may voluntarily exchange experience and business information. Nonpublic information clearly shared in confidence—including unreleased products, private business challenges, pricing strategies, supplier information, or other proprietary information—should not be redistributed without permission.
12. Collaboration & Cross-Promotion
Members are encouraged, but never required, to collaborate through bundles, giveaways, events, referrals, educational content, social campaigns, wholesale relationships, or other mutually agreed projects. Members remain independent businesses and are responsible for the terms of their own collaborations.
13. Alliance Membership vs. Sandy Floors Marketplace
Alliance membership and selling through the Sandy Floors marketplace are separate relationships. A business may participate in one or both. Alliance membership is a community relationship centered on participation and standards. Selling through Sandy Floors is a commercial marketplace relationship governed by the separate Sandy Floors Vendor Partner Terms & Guidelines, including applicable marketplace fees and fulfillment requirements.
14. Proud Member Badge
Only current accepted members may use the official Proud Member badge. It may be resized proportionally but its wording, artwork, colors, and meaning should not be altered or transferred to another business. Members may optionally link it to https://sandyfloors.com/pages/alliance. No backlink is required. The badge must not be described as a certification, verification, guarantee, warranty, license, or safety approval. Badge use must stop promptly when membership ends.
15. No Pay-to-Rank or Link Schemes
Membership is not sold in exchange for backlinks, search rankings, reciprocal links, reviews, or endorsements. Any future sponsorship or paid promotion will be separate from membership review and will not guarantee acceptance, directory placement, rankings, traffic, referrals, or sales.
16. Member Directory, Stories & Promotion
Members may authorize Sandy Floors to publish appropriate non-sensitive business information, logos, stories, and links in Alliance features. Sandy Floors may edit submitted copy for length, grammar, clarity, formatting, or house style without intentionally changing its meaning. Placement, spotlights, referrals, traffic, search visibility, and sales are not guaranteed.
17. Keep Your Information Current
Members should notify Sandy Floors of material changes to business name, ownership, website, contact information, product focus, closure, or other information that makes their Alliance profile materially inaccurate.
18. Membership Review & Continued Participation
Alliance membership is an ongoing standard, not a one-time approval. Sandy Floors may periodically confirm that a business remains active, wishes to remain a member, maintains current information, and continues to participate reasonably in the community.
Membership may be reviewed for patterns of unresolved customer complaints, excessive or undisclosed shipping delays, misleading information, non-family-friendly content, serious misconduct, badge misuse, unlawful activity, prolonged inactivity, or continued lack of meaningful participation. When reasonable, the member will have an opportunity to clarify or correct a concern before suspension or removal. Urgent legal, safety, fraud, abuse, or serious reputational issues may require immediate action.
19. No Guaranteed Results
The Alliance may provide community, exposure, relationships, education, resources, collaborations, and opportunities, but membership does not guarantee sales, followers, traffic, referrals, search rankings, partnerships, funding, or business growth.
20. Changes to These Guidelines
These guidelines may evolve as the Alliance grows. Material changes will be reflected here. Members may be asked to review updated terms when appropriate. Continued participation or badge use after notice of an update means the member agrees to follow the current guidelines.
Our Simple Promise to Each Other
Grow your business. Help others grow theirs. Treat customers well. Keep it family-friendly. Show up for the community.
