A rare, true-purple floribunda with an old-rose perfume strong enough to scent a whole patio.
The Intrigue Rose (Rosa 'JACum') is a compact floribunda prized for its unusual color: clusters of mauve-to-reddish-purple blooms that open from pointed buds into ruffled, semi-double flowers. Each blossom carries a deep, sweet citrus-and-old-rose fragrance, and the bush flowers in flushes from spring straight through fall above glossy, dark green foliage. At a tidy 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, it stays in scale for foundation beds, borders, and large containers while delivering color and scent all season.
Why growers choose the Intrigue Rose
Unusual purple color. True lavender-to-plum tones are scarce among roses, and Intrigue holds its smoky purple better than most, deepening in cooler weather.
Powerful fragrance. One of the more strongly scented floribundas, with a rich citrus-rose perfume that carries on warm evenings.
Repeat bloom all season. Flowers arrive in generous clusters and rebloom in waves from spring to the first hard frost.
Compact, well-branched habit. A rounded, bushy shrub that fits tighter spaces and reads as full rather than leggy.
Fast establishment. A vigorous, fast grower that fills in quickly to a productive flowering shrub.
Plant it where the color and scent get noticed: along a walkway or patio edge, massed as a low informal hedge, woven into a mixed perennial border, or set in a roomy container near a seating area. It also earns a place in the cutting garden, where the fragrant purple clusters stand out in arrangements.
